Installing MonoDevelop 7.1 Preview on Arch Linux
MonoDevelop can be instaled using Flatpak.
pacman -S Flatpak
Install Mono Develop
Execute the following as a normal user.
flatpak install --user --from https://download.mono-project.com/repo/monodevelop.flatpakref
At this point you may be asked to install the freedesktop sdk, respond with a y to thizs.
The newly installed MonoDevelop can be run from a shell using
flatpak run com.xamarin.MonoDevelop
In Gnome 3 the Mono Develop icon can be found under programming. Flatpak expects window managers to respect the XDG_DATA_DIRS environment variable to discover applications.
The above installs the application for the current user, therefore the uninstall option should include the --user switch also e.g.
flatpak uninstall --user com.xamarin.MonoDevelop
To remove the freedesktop sdk
flatpak uninstall --user org.freedesktop.Sdk
