This section describes the installation procedure for VNC on Arch Linux.

Install tiger vnc

   $ pacman -S tigervnc

In the users home directory (not root) Create a script e.g. startvnc.sh containing the following, assumes display 1 which would be the case with a local desktop on display 0

   vncserver :1 -geometry 1440x900 -dpi 96 -depth 24

and a stop script e.g. stop.sh containing

   vncserver -kill :1wm in use.

set the permissions on the script e.g.

   $ chmod 755 *.sh

Edit ~/.vnc/xstartup and comment out the xterm/twm entries

   #xterm -geometry 80x24+10+10 -ls -title "$VNCDESKTOP Desktop" &
   #twm &

Replace the above with something like the following, naturally this would depend upon the desktop/wm in use etc.

   lxterminal &
   /usr/bin/lxsession -s LXDE &
